CZECH REPUBLIC: PLENARY ASSEMBLY OF BISHOPS, IN THE RUN-UP TO THE DAY OF SAINT CYRIL AND METHODIUS

The summer plenary assembly of the Czech Bishops Conference will take place in Vehlerad, Moravia, on 2nd and 3rd July. The bishops of the Czech Republic, Moravia and Silesia will meet, as they have always traditionally done, in the well-known place of pilgrimage, which on 5th July will host the celebrations for the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, with the national pilgrimage to Vehlerad. Items on the agenda include the plan for the Bible of Young People, the guidelines of the Bishops Conference for preparation to the Sacrament of Marriage, and pastoral work in health-care services. The plenary assembly, which will be chaired by mgr. Dominik Duka, president of the Bishops Conference and archbishop of Prague, will also be attended by delegates of religious orders of men and women. It will also be attended by mgr. Jean-Louis Bruguèse, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education, and by mgr. Jan Mráz, rector of Pontificio Collegio Nepomuceno of Rome, which trains lots of Czech theologians and priests. The bishops will also attend Mass on 5th July in honour of Saints Cyril and Methodius, which will be officiated by card. Miloslav Vlk.
