On Thursday, October 14, 2010, His All Holiness received Metropolitan-elect Nikiphoros of Central Africa, elected by the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria on October 7. As a former monk and teacher at the academy on Mt. Athos, within the spiritual jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Metropolitan-elect travelled to the Phanar, accompanied by his brother who is also a monk at Little St. Anne's Skete on the Holy Mountain, in order to seek the blessing of His All Holiness. The consecration of the new Metropolitan will take place in Alexandria on October 24.
