A common voice to combat fear and frustration

An international conference of Anglican and Catholic Church leaders in London aims to provide a fresh hope to Palestinian and Israeli Christians suffering from the ongoing conflict in their homeland. The conference, which opened at Lambeth Palace on Monday, has been jointly organised by the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and the Catholic Archbishop of Westminster Vincent Nichols.
Amongst a significant number of American particpants at the conference is the former Archbishop of Washington, Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, who travels regularly to the Holy Land to promote interfaith dialogue and cooperation. He told Philippa Hitchen about his most recent visit to Gaza and about his hopes for this two day ecumenical conference:
